Best Career Guidance in Tipperary

Tipperary is one of the biggest counties in the country, and it doesn't behave like one place — North Tipperary and South Tipperary have different schools, different local economies, and honestly, different levels of access to things like open days and third-level visits depending on how far you are from Thurles, Clonmel, Nenagh or the county's edges. What doesn't vary, unfortunately, is how thin career guidance provision is stretched everywhere in the county.

It's the same national ratio, whichever end of Tipperary you're in

The Institute of Guidance Counsellors was specific about this in their submission to the Department of Education: non-DEIS schools work out at roughly one guidance counsellor per 583 students. Their most recent national survey found 92% of school-based guidance counsellors say they don't have enough time to meet student need — climbing from 83% a few years earlier. A Tipperary secondary school, north or south, is staffed on that exact same ratio. It has nothing to do with how good the counsellor is, and everything to do with how few hours the role is actually given.

Private guidance exists, but the cost is the same story everywhere

Private career coaching in Ireland runs €80 to €200 per session, and most people need a few sessions before it's worth doing at all.
